Overview

LIBRA, Stranka liberalnih demokrata (Party of Liberal Democrats)- Established: Zagreb,21 September 2002. Members: 2002 (211), 2004 (885). Members in Croatian Parliament: 2002 - 9 (5,96 %), 2003 - 10 (6,62%), 2004 - 3 (1,97 %). When the HSLS left the coalition with the SDP in 2002, some of its memebrs seceeded and formed the LIBRA (so retaining tehir ministerial positions). Theleader is Jozo Radoš, Ministr of Defence in Racan's governent (2000-2004). The party very recently merged with HNS. The flag is blue, vertical flag with the party emblem in the lower half. The emblem could be see at <www.hidra.hr> - a yellow square with rounded corners containing a blue Glagolitic letter L and inscription LIBRA beneath it. The choice of the glagolitic letter L and its similarity to the scales [libra=scales] could not have been coincidental, but I have found no evidence that the party ever expressed this or tried to identify itself with the scales otherwise.
